Troina, Italia, 1891 - Bs. As., 1967

Along with Carlos Gardel and Agustín Magaldi, his name is part of a canonized trinity of Argentine singers of the 20’s and 30’s. His rich repertoire included tango songs, waltzes and pieces from different genres of Argentine music.
Andrés Ignacio Corsini arrived in Argentina when he was five years old and lived a humble childhood. He began to sing by getting acquainted with payadores (itinerant singers who improvised their lyrics) of his time. In 1907 actor "Pepe" Podestá heard him singing and decided to promote his debut at the Apolo theatre. He sang with theatre companies and circuses. In 1916 he took part in the movie Santos Vega.
In 1922 he enjoyed major success thanks to his role in the sainete (one-act farce) El bailarín del cabaret, where he sang the tango song Patotero sentimental for the first time. A decade later his performance in Francisco Canaro’s musical comedy La canción de los barrios won him instant recognition. He also took part in the movies Idolos de la radio (directed by Eduardo Morera, 1934) and Fortín alto (directed by Luis Moglia Barth, 1941). He used to sing with his guitar trio, composed of Pagés, Pesoa and Maciel, made some recordings with different orchestras, and occasionally sang in a duo with his son. Endowed with an original voice tone and a very unique style, his rich repertoire included songs composed by his guitarist, Enrique Maciel, and by poet Pedro Blomberg, such as La pulpera de Santa Lucia, La mazorquera de Monserrat, La viajera perdida, Los jazmines de San Ignacio, Violines gitanos, and La guitarrera de San Nicolás.
In 1948 he withdrew from musical life forever.
